The story of Random

Once upon a time there was a nice lady smoking a cigarette in the alley behind our gallery, and I heard a little commotion in our studio, and then the nice lady popped her head in the back door and said
"Yoo Hoo! I think a little bunny just hopped into your store!"
So I moved a painting in the back, and sure enough, there was a little furry blur. After trying to catch the little one for about an hour, I just decided to leave the back door open, so he could find his way outside.
Two days later, there were teeny tiny little footprints on my torch! The little one had been drinking from my glass - cleaning water! Poor thing!
So we borrowed a skunk trap from the City, and the next morning found a baby kitten in it!
Random has no tail at all, and his back legs are longer than his front, that's why he looked like a bunny before.
Anyway, soon we found 4 other kittens, and their wonderful Mama Kitty:

Mama Kitty was a feral alley cat when we first met. She gave birth to a litter of kittens, on top of our building! Elvie and Random are her babies - (the other 3 kittens were fostered by a shelter volunteer who fell in love with them and decided to keep them.)
We trapped Mama and her kittens one at a time, until we had the whole family. We knew the babies would eventually tame down, but Mama surprised us by going from feral to total SnuggleBug in only 4 months.
We suspect she must have been a pet long, long ago to turn into such a happy, loving sweetheart.
We lost Mama Kitty in 2001, and I will never get over it.
