Welcome to Bonnie and Parke's Bitchin Kitchen!

Woo Hoo! We did it!
Our kitchen is no longer a Pit of Despair!
No longer does the floor slope 6 inches!
When we cook, we look in the pot with wonder, to see the soup is now level!
It is hard to believe this little kitchen was once
3 tiny rooms when we bought the house....

2007 will go down in history as the year we ACTUALLY FINISHED
a room in our house!!   The year in review:

Look Mom!

No Studs!

How did this wall stand for 101 years??

Maui says

"What the Heck

is going on here??!!"

The cardboard

layout I designed-

how will it look

when it is

finished?

Have

you

seen

Mike?

I can't

find

him

anywhere!

Parke kind of freaked out when I painted the walls 5 different colors!

But he likes it now.

These are the cabinet boxes he built...

And now ladies and gentlemen, let us present the finished room:
(This is the part where we cry and jump around hysterically, like on TV.)

To answer your question:

20 years of Thrift Shopping.

Garage Sales,

Ebay.

But wait!

There's More!

Parke made the walnut cabinets out of a dead tree he cut down from his Grandma Murphy's farm in 1982.

Each door and drawer is book- matched.

That means Parke split the board and glued it together, so it looks like a mirror-image.

That Parke. Can you believe him?

Here we have Aunt Bonnie's iPod.

It holds 200 songs, and if you wanna move it you'll need five people!

After I cleaned the drywall dust off the records, I glued glass blobs on to the juke box - oh, the beauty!

Desmond's favorite song is FunkyTown. G7.

Yamni likes D5 - I Think I Love You!

Just look at that wood -

can you believe how pretty?

It grows out of the earth!

I made the glass drawer pulls.

Behold the

Cat Shrine!

This is the window the cats look out of to see who is home.

I'll say it again:

IT IS REALLY FUN
TO GLUE THINGS
TO STUFF!

Try it!

Ever since my surgery, I really cherish my thyme.

Thank you for visiting our kitchen! Come over some time for some good vegan home cooking!  Recipes

We just got a request for more photos of the
juke box -

(and the the glass blobs of beauty.)

OK Campers!

Go forth and glue stuff to things!!

Look how pretty it is as a night light:

I found some "Before" photos of our kitchen:

No counter space, and brown astroturf.

Actually, I loved it even then...

Making veggie rolls
with sister Sally -
YUM!

In this photo you can see one of the old walls we took out, behind me.

Oh, the days of the 6 inch sloped floor, covered in astroturf.
We were so young!

Desmond used to live in the kitchen, because he had the best views in there.
I mean, he could look into the living room and the bedroom, and see outside...
Birds really like to know what's going on.
Now that the livingroom is opened up, he loves it there!
